Boss Tweed epitomizes the greed and graft in New York City.
William M. Tweed also created one of the most beautiful buildings in Manhattan, right behind City Hall. After paying-off the construction workers who were his friends, the original New York City Courthouse was built at a cost of ten times the standard market rates for construction in the 1860s. The "Tweed Courthouse" is now used by the Board of Education.
