1970s Grippity Gravity toy - space transport vehicle

1970's Grippity Gravity space toy by Tomy

Read the memories of kids like me who got this toy for Christmas one year, long ago, In the 70s. This appears to be the second version of the toy set with two of the same boxy vehicles instead of the rocket ship pictured on the box. The rover on Lost In Space looks about the same.

RT @RareToys - My first diecast car convention | toy-tma.com

My first diecast car convention:
5858891512 da2a42677e z My first diecast car convention
"Nashville Collector’s Experience. This wasn’t your normal convention where you walk into a giant hall filled with endless tables of people selling their stuff. Instead, collectors that were staying at the hotel where the convention was held opened their rooms up, allowing anyone to walk in and check out their cars for sale. You had to walk from room to room to see what people had for sale, often creating a somewhat awkward experience…it’s not every day you walk into someone’s hotel room to make a purchase. On top of that, people were scattered around the hotel so you had to jump floors to see everything. If you ask me, this room-to-room format really hurts the experience and in the long run I think it limits how much people can sell. Had everyone been in one spot I probably would have purchased more."

Ambulance collection only one of it's kind in USA (?) - The Columbia County News-Times

History on wheels 073111 - The Columbia County News-Times:

"The ambulance collection appears to be the only one if its kind in the country. There is a similar collection in Toronto, Canada, but that one is organized by the Professional Care Society and each car is separately owned, Pounds said.

Included in the collection is a replica of an 1880's horse-drawn carriage with wood interior, kerosene lanterns and bell siren.

'Nobody had one, so I got the drawings from the Smithsonian and had the Amish people build it 25 years ago,' Pounds said.

The carriage is the only ambulance in the collection that was not used as an actual life-saving vehicle.

The collection houses a 1921 Ford Model T, which includes the box of a horse-drawn carriage mounted to the chassis. The 1929 Model A Pounds owns can be seen in such films as Fried Green Tomatoes , Rambling Rose and The Bobby Jones Story .

A 1937 LaSalle ambulance currently is being refurbished.
"We've been hunting for that one for a long time," Pounds said. "We've been looking for that one since there was one in The Godfather ."
Gold Cross Chief Financial Officer Frank Lindley, who joined the crew more than a decade ago, shares Pounds' love of antique vehicles, history and the history of pre-hospital medical care. He encouraged Pounds to refurbish the few vehicles he already had at the time and continue collecting.
"Bo has put together the quintessential ambulance collection," Lindley said. "He has managed to collect horse-drawn and the entire motorized fleet from every decade.

Firefighting memorabilia collector proposed museum - Inland Southern California | PE.com

PASS: Firefighting memorabilia collector envisions starting museum | PE.com | News for Inland Southern California:
012EFIRE23ripE
"Hammer, 62, has an extensive collection of firefighting artifacts that he has amassed over many years. Old lanterns, ladders, nozzles, hoses, breathing masks, toys, rattles, bells, hand pumps, fire extinguishers and much more are stored in a 2,400-square-foot building behind the Hammer's house.

The fire engines parked at home number nine, and four of them are his. The other five belong to a nonprofit organization, Fire Memories Inc., of which Hammer is volunteer chief executive officer.

Robert and Carolyn Green founded Fire Memories in 1998 in Indio and opened a museum in Washington state. When Robert Green died, his widow was unable to continue the museum and it was closed.

Now, Hammer and his associates at Fire Memories have proposed opening a fire museum at Noble Creek Community Park in Beaumont."

Ferrari 250GTO Ferrarissima Front View
"Twenty-odd years later, the better-looking but harder-used of the pair brought more than $15 million from a Japanese collector. Some years after, I told that story at dinner on the Riviera. The man across from me, Jean Guichet, said, 'You can't imagine how happy I am to hear that. That was my car, and my wife made me sell it -- for $4500!"

Ford Pinto owners road rally celebrate car's comeback | Reporter-Herald, Loveland, Colo.

Pinto owners celebrate car's comeback with rally starting in Denver , 5/30/2011 - Reporter-Herald, Loveland, Colo.
Norm Bagi, who once lived in Boulder, is organizing a road rally from Denver to Pennsylvania to celebrate the 40th birthday of the Ford Pinto. He will be driving his light blue customized 1977 Boss Pinto with a mock Boss 302 engine, and his wife will be in her stock 1976 Pinto Runabout with a 2.8 V-6 that has power steering, brakes and air conditioning.

Once among the most popular cars in America, the Pinto is an endangered species.
Of the 3 million Pintos manufactured, experts estimate that fewer than 10,000 are still on the road.
Most Pintos ended up in junkyards, but some were stashed in grandparents’ garages, preserving the contemporary collector’s dream, right down to the original bucket seats and eight-track tape players.
