Avid 1960's poster collector Andrew Hawley, from Vintage Rock Posters, announces his search for vintage ... concert posters. He's offering $5,000 for any of these posters (Zeppelin for $3,000) - and each one is an icon of rock poster art, or they represent a landmark in the career of the musicians and the rock 'n roll music industry. Each of them has a story.

Jimi Hendrix 1968 Merriweather Post Pavilion Maryland concert posters. The show was presented by Durwood C. Settles, and the poster was designed by Dail W. Beeghly. Beeghly designed some of the more vibrant and graphically interesting fillmore era rock concert posters in late 1960s.

Disney store pulls Joy Division Mickey Mouse mashup tee shirt - Boing Boing (! got mine today)

Disney store offers, then pulls, Mickey t-shirt based on iconic Joy Division album cover - Boing Boing:

The Disney Store is now offering was, until January 25th, selling a new t-shirt design based on the iconic Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures" album cover, with Mickey Mouse's face inserted in those wavy lines. From Manchester to Mousechester!

There was backlash, and it looks like the item is no longer available in the online store. But Joy Division/New Order bassist Peter Hook liked it.

My copy came in the mail today. I'm pretty sure it's not original as I expect the real Disney shirt to have the logo on the shirt label. But for an instant meme, and a funny shirt, it's worth it. It will be reprinted at print-on-demand stores as this article goes to press.

"While George was still working on the screenplay for the first film, we decided that sound was going to be an important part of Star Wars. So I went down to the USC cinema department, where George and I went to film school, and asked the head of sound if he had any finishing students who were particularly creative.

He gave me Ben Burtt, who became our sound designer. Ben worked for over a year collecting noises from all kinds of unusual sources, and we'd meet to listen and chat about them. By the time we finished shooting he had an enormous collection of sounds, which we used for everything from R2-D2's bleeps to the laser effect created when the space ships fire at each other."
