"George Economou is an uncommon kind of art collector. The Greek shipping magnate eschews buying at Sotheby's, Christie's, and major international galleries but is faithful to smaller auction houses and galleries in Germany and Austria. He acquires art — overwhelmingly paintings and drawings — at a feverish pace of between 150 and 200 works per year. That's an average of about two to three each week, sniffed out and gathered together with the help of his trusted full-time advisor, the bow-tie wearing eccentric Dimitris Gravanis."
