Bolts of lightning melt sand and forms glass ⇨ Fulgurites

Glass from a lightning bolt in the sky: FULGURITES

Fulgurites @ home
When lightning strikes sandy ground, the sand is molten to form a hollow tube called a fulgurite. I always wanted to find one, but as you can imagine, chances are very low.

But wait a minute - I can make my own lightning! Well, I don't have a surge generator able to produce voltage and energy suitable for melting sand, but using my 4 MOT power supply I can draw a hot arc...

Nic Cage’s Stolen Superman Comic Poised to Break Auction Record. It is the first comic to sell for more than $2 million at auction. The previous record was $1.5 million for a less well-preserved copy of Action Comics No. 1 s"

- Criticism for His Bizarre Spending Habits: Cage owns a Caribbean island, a dinosaur skull (which he won in a bidding war against Leonardo DiCapriO), 30 to 50 cars, a zoo full of exotic pets, shrunken heads, jewelry, and his 15 homes. In 1997, Cage broke the auction record for Lamborghinis when he placed a $490,000 bid on a rare Miura SVJ. "There’s a cluelessness,” someone who once worked with him tells The Daily Beast. “He’s been wealthy since he was 17 years old, and so he’s very removed from normal decision-making."
- Foreclosure: Cage lost two of his homes in New Orleans, one in Bel Air (once owned by Dean Martin and Tom Jones) and another in Las Vegas.

Sinclair Dinoland Waxy-Plastic Dinosaurs - Pavilions & Attractions | nywf64.com

Pavilions & Attractions - Sinclair Dinoland - Page Seven:
Dinoland Poster

Yet another toy that Mother's everywhere threw away by the bucket-full.

Sinclair Dinoland Waxy-Plastic Dinosaurs were distributed all over the country in the 1960s and 70s to promote Sinclair gas stations which used a brontosaurus as their mascot (or if you are a purist - the Apatosaurus). These toys were produced in front of your eyes with portable injection-molding machines that traveled the country to parking lots and proto-shopping malls of the day. The slippery or "waxy-plastic" is likely the result of using a soft plastic with a low-melting point to safely produce the figures with the "Mold-a-Rama" portable machine in any condition. (Oh yes, the days when -rama was used as a suffix, like the ever popular -a go-go as in "Whiskey A Go-Go").
