gun #collecting gun show in Pueblo, Colorado

Lilollady Comments About Collectors:
"The gun collector looks for those guns that won the west and those that were popular when they were kids. They look for dueling pistols and guns with mother of pearl handles. They are interested in anything old with enough numbering and labeling to collect them with certain military occurrences and any provenance to connect them with important personages or events. The collector wants the guns to be in good to very good condition at a minimum and some require that they work perfectly as they did originally. As always, condition is everything."

"Collecting video art Despite the relatively recent popularity of videos at art fairs, there are a handful of longstanding, heavyweight collectors of video art. Most notably, Pamela and Richard Kramlich from San Francisco, who were pioneers in the field. They started collecting in the 1980s and founded the New Art Trust in 1997, which is devoted to the medium and supports research and scholarship at, among others, London’s Tate, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Another patron is Julia Stoschek from Dusseldorf who began collecting media art in 2004 and has amassed around 400 works."

The Discreet Enigma of George Economou: A Greek Magnate Unveils His Unique Art Collection in Athens - ARTINFO.com:

"George Economou is an uncommon kind of art collector. The Greek shipping magnate eschews buying at Sotheby's, Christie's, and major international galleries but is faithful to smaller auction houses and galleries in Germany and Austria. He acquires art — overwhelmingly paintings and drawings — at a feverish pace of between 150 and 200 works per year. That's an average of about two to three each week, sniffed out and gathered together with the help of his trusted full-time advisor, the bow-tie wearing eccentric Dimitris Gravanis."

Getting to bottom of collecting a spirited journey - Local News - News - General - Newcastle .au:
"After more than 50 years travelling the Pacific Islands, tribal art collector Senta Taft-Hendry remembers one visit in particular where the natives thought she had spirits coming out of her rear. Mrs Taft-Hendry was in Papua New Guinea when she had a floor cushion that was noisy when she sat down.

The intrigued villagers then used a large slit drum, known as a garamut, to call villagers to listen to her ‘‘spirits’’. Despite the cross-cultural confusion, she managed to bring the drum home with her.

It is among 200 artefacts Mrs Taft-Hendry has given to the University of Newcastle (Australia)

Having evolved within the area over hundreds or thousands of years, native plants “support the working ecosystem that they are a part of,” Liljengren says.”They are ‘the right plants in the right place.’”
